A neighbor gave me a dining room table that is marked: “made in Malaysia”. It was fairly expensive when bought and its one of those tables that has a center section that is used by pulling each side out to make room for the center. In other words, there is a lot of bracing below the top. All of it, including the bracing is all solid wood with some of it having a reddish brown tint and some of it being very white. Most of it is quartersawn as well. The top itself is glued up from pieces that are about 2 inches wide and 1 inch deep. Does anyone have an idea of what types of woods are typically used in Malaysia for this kind of furniture? I am repurposing as much as possible for smaller projects.

    Thanks

If you post a couple photos it would certainly help – otherwise we will just be guessing in the blind.
