    I wonder if the long stretcher size is accurate. if the leg is only 3″, then should the stretcher be 2 ¾”??

      It depends.

      You want the outside to be flush. It is also helpful to be equal in width to the leg so that your tenon is centered in both the leg and stretcher. Otherwise you can make it as difficult as you want.

      Do not calculate too rigidly, it depends on many factors. Suppose when playing basketball stars you will have to calculate the throw angle, force, etc but few people who are not professionals can calculate like that.
