I know this is a very old post but I thought I would share how I made mine this past Week.
I stopped into Joanne Fabrics, its a sewing/fabric hobby shop. I found that they sold leather patches that are 3″ x 9″. I cut a piece of 3/4″ oak plywood and used two sided tape to attach it. It was inexpensive and easy to make. You can also charge the back side of the wood to use like the above post. I saw the idea of how to make one on Paul Sellers Site.
I have been doing shop sharpening with a new set of stones and using this strop this week. It is amazing how much sharper I have gotten my chisels and planes. It makes them a lot more enjoyable and easier to use.
I can’t stop making shavings.
