Hi again Ryan,

Any project will give you some experience. First, It looks like the plane would hit he board in back before you could take a good stroke during shooting operations. Second, it appears that the board you used underneath for the plane to ride on prevents the hook from laying flat on the bench (which is something you want). The next issue is with the use of the fence to control the saw cut for mitering/beveling. Unless the stock being cut is awfully thin, the saw would have to be in the stock before it encounters the kerfs in the fence for guidance.  We all go through a few versions of appliances before we hit on good ones for our methods of work and the types of projects we do.
